San Francisco Experience

Welcome to Beautiful San Francisco! We left LA at 11:30am. Hubby said that we should take the," fast and ugly route" on the I-5 but promised that we would take the, "slow and scenic route" on the way home. Unexpectedly, the "ugly route" that he's talking about turned out to be such a wonderful place! I was amazed by the gentle rolling hills in the Central Valley, California. We saw herds of cows grazing and saw so much produce being grown. I found myself amazed by the symmetry of the crops. Endless rows of strawberries, nuts, vegetable and citrus all in perfect rows that seemed to reach to the horizon. As my husband is fond of saying "American ingenuity at work”.

We drove 6 hours from Los Angeles to San Francisco, depending on traffic and how often you stop. We passed the San Joaquin valley and hubby said that it is America's Bread Basket. What's best here in America is that there's always an exit for food, gas and even Rest Stops provided by the tax payers! It was a happy drive and I couldn’t even take a nap because I was always in awe. The traffic is strange! I saw oncoming traffic passing on our right side uphill from us. I have read that the road is constructed that way so that when traversing the highway it allows the uphill part of the road to follow a more gradual path.

San Francisco is the city Americans leave there heart in. I fell in LOVE with this incredibly gorgeous place. According to what I have read, that it is the city of myth and magic on par with Paris and Venice. It is such a wonderful place with scrumptious food, a raft of great hotels, fascinating and unique neighborhoods, and the people are liberal, easy going and talkative. The locals are friendly. No other city with the exception of New York takes better advantage of their public transportation systems.
Just part and parcel of the neighborhood
During our stay there, it was constantly raining. However, it did not hinder us from enjoying the beautiful must-see places in San Francisco. First day, we drove to Muir Woods. It’s a quiet and historic National Park that is only 20 minutes away from San Francisco with impressive giant red woods, path nature walks, streams and much more. It's perfect for everyone! Visitors on educational trips and those who are lovers of woods and trees where witnessed there.

San Francisco's world-famous cable cars dominated the city’s transit scene for more than 30 years. It’s San Francisco’s iconic cable car that clangs up and down in the insanely steep hills. (Ugghhh! I was really scared! Too steep!)  The majestic Golden Gate Bridge is incredibly wonderful! An engineering marvel, it is not named for its color but for the Golden Gate Strait it crosses. We walked, ate and enjoyed our time at the Embarcadero. This is where the Fisherman’s Wharf located. Tourists’ walking around as it is largely dedicated to souvenir shops and take-away-food.  Walking on the street you can smell the scrumptious crabs/sea foods that made me crave to try their Dungeness crab. The foods are great! People are nice and friendly.

The Palace of Fine arts is incredible. I felt like I am in Europe! Everybody present there seemed busy taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. Took a visit at famed Chinatown, with one of the largest Chinese populations in America. Wandering at Stockton Street where you can see variety of herbs and tea stores. My husband is a worshiper of tea, and for that we experienced a free tasting at Vital Tea Store. The Chinese lady was friendly and accommodating. This is a must see tea store to visit for tea lovers.

The Crookedest Street in the World. The steep hilly curves were perfectly cut into sharp beautiful curves. It’s a picture-perfect that I couldn’t believe it exists!  Some of the most expensive real state in San Francisco sets here and one good example are the Victorian houses. I loved taking pictures at this place and focused myself to just look and enjoy! The flowers and grasses were beautifully trimmed.  It’s a one-way down the steep hill and you will encounter an eight tight turns in the one block portion of this street. You can take a scenic shots, enjoy the curvy drive, the artistic houses, the tourists are fun and catch up a cable cars to downtown San Francisco.

Every time we drove around the city, I usually forgot to take pictures of the beautiful scenery because I was constantly in awe of how gorgeous San Francisco is!  There’s much more to explore and enjoy. Our two-day getaway was not enough to explore the other side of the City. We promised ourselves that we should go back for the second time around. Here’s the list of the places that we never had the chance to experience and promise we will go back in God's grace.

  1. Alcatraz Island and Ferry Cruise by the Bay
  2. Golden gate Park
  3. Museums and other famous parks
  4. festivals
  5. Outside San Francisco, they also have their beautiful Redwoods, The Yosemite Park, Winery and much more!

So, what are you waiting for?  Book a ticket or drive to The Livable San Francisco!
